In today’s world, it is necessary for faith to be firm and unshakable. Everywhere we turn there are people whose goal is to tear down others’ (most often Christians’) beliefs and make popular their own opinions. These are the people we must watch closely for each day.
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 ESV
We must stand tall and never let these people destroy our faith or manipulate our minds. To ensure this type of secure faith, we must be unbelievably sure of our beliefs; we must keep ourselves in the word. In Romans 12:2, Paul reminds us to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
We must cling to verses such as this to remind ourselves that this world can only do so much. We serve a God who has conquered death and given us a chance at eternal life spent at His side. We have nothing to fear, but instead we should fill our days with rejoicing, proclaiming the Gospel everywhere we go. We have the Answer. Our God is Life itself and nothing can sever us from Him. He is ours and we are His. Forever and ever, amen.
God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide and protect us, proof that Jesus did exactly what He said He would, and that He will continue to do so. We must live in constant hope and joy in the fact that our faith cannot be shaken by people, but only upheld by God. We are part of the kingdom of God and no power on earth or in hell can shake it. We are eternally victorious through Christ Jesus. Let us stand firm in the faith, proclaiming the good news everywhere we go and spreading the joy of the Lord to every heart who hears.
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7
